Waiakea Water is Changing the Face of Bottled Water

Consumers started turning their backs on buying and drinking bottled water because of the excess waste and pollution created by the plastic bottles. Many of these bottled waters only contain city water that is filtered. Waiakea Water is sold in packaging that is eco-conscious and the water inside comes from a pure and naturally alkaline source. Here is some more information about how Waiakea Water is doing bottled water better than the rest.

A Healthy Alternative

The founder of Waiakea, Ryan Emmons, decided to release his Hawaiian volcanic water in 2012 when realizing how special the water was that he drank with his family while growing up. He found that his family had access to a naturally pure, healthy, and sustainable water source in all the world.

The Composition of Waiakea Water

The water is collected from a pristine source to the Southwest of Hilo, Hawaii. It is filtered through the Mauna Loa volcano giving it a unique composition and pH. It is rich in electrolytes like potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium. It has an ideal amount of silica that lends a silky and soft feel to the water.

Sustainable Packaging

Waiakea water is a sustainable resource that is sourced from a 1.4 billion gallon aquifer. It is bottled at a site that uses a third renewable energy. The packaging is high-grade, 100% recycled polyethylene terephthalate. It uses 85% less energy when manufacturing when compared to a regular plastic bottle. The process they use for manufacturing reduces carbon emissions by over 90% when compared to traditional bottles.

Waiakea water includes a social element in the business model. They have partnered with Pump Aid. Pump Aid is a charity that is dedicated to helping those without clean water get it. This charity gives access to safe, clean water and sanitation to more than 1.35 million people and established 3200 water pumps. This has led to 500 million liters of water being donated to date.
